European Parliament decided to revise its legislation and offer more rights to youth coming outside EU countries, including those from Republic of Moldova, that want to study or activate as researchers in EU universities. A recent directive of the european institution harmonizes EU entry and residence rules to make it easier for highly skilled people outside EU to come and stay in Europe.

Here are some of the changes voted by the legislative from Strasbourg:

• Students and researchers to be allowed to work during their mobility period for at least 15 hours a week;
• After study or research, foreign students will be allowed to stay for at least nine months in a EU country to look for work or set up a business;
• Family members of researchers coming to Europe will be allowed to accompany them and to look for work.

The new rules will be available in each EU country (except Denmark, Ireland and Great Britain) after the adjustment of their national laws – they have two years to implement the new rules.
